Taking top honors in last Sunday’s Grand American Duck Calling Contest was veteran caller Bill Cooksey of Jackson. A veteran caller and former Tennessee State Champion, Cooksey will now advance to the World Champion Duck Calling Contest in late November in Stuttgart, AR. The Grand American Goose Calling Champion winner was Richie McKnight of Dawson Springs, KY. It was a hot day with temperatures climbing into the mid-90’s on the shores of Reelfoot Lake but the competition callers didn’t seem to mind too much. Most of them blew their hearts out as they looked off into the sky as though it was a cold, crisp winter morning. In the Junior Duck Calling the top spot went to young Tyler Davis of Covington. Junior Goose Calling Champion was Blake Moore of Kevil Kentucky. Top Junior Metal Reed Duck Calling category went to Travis Ward of Huntingdon. Three Time World Champion Duck Caller Mike McLemore of Huntingdon hosted the event.
