New Refuge
Event “TRIM A TREE FOR WILDLIFE”
Sat. November 29th from 11:00 – 3:00 pm
At the new Refuge Visitor Center
The Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge would like to invite the public to
a new event called “Trim a Tree for Wildlife” to be held Saturday,
November 29th from 11:00 to 3:00 pm at their new visitor center located at
1371 Wildlife Drive in Springville, TN. This event will feature
opportunities to take items from nature and make crafts for the Christmas
season. From making ornament owls out of pine cones, to making snowmen
from tree slices, these crafts will be fun for the whole family!
According to Barron Crawford, refuge manager “The event will be tailored
for families with children or for people looking for something fun to do
with visiting relatives. So come on down, check out the new interactive
exhibits, shop at the Blue Heron Bookstore and take home some cool
ornaments for the season.” Some of the craft ornaments available to make
are designed to decorate the inside of your home, but some can be hungt on
an outside tree to help attract wild birds to your backyard.
As always, the event and entry to the visitor center is free. The refuge
would like to thank the sponsors of this event, the Friends of Tennessee
National Wildlife Refuge. They will also have the Blue Heron Bookstore
open for business from 10:00-4:00 pm on Saturday. For more information
about this event or the Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge please call
731-642-2091.
Whereas the new refuge visitor center is always open Monday - Saturday
from 8:00 – 4:00 pm, please note the center will be closed at 12:00 pm the
day before Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s. It will remain closed
through each holiday and will reopen on the Friday after each holiday.
