TAKES RECORD
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has confirmed a second state
fishing record in the month April for Class B (method other than rod and
reel) which came for a smallmouth buffalo.
Reece and Jonathon Bledsoe (both of Lobelville) took the fish by archery
on Kentucky Lake in early April. The smallmouth buffalo weighed 68 pounds,
8 ounces and was 51 inches long. The new record fish surpasses the
previous record of 64 pounds set in 2003, which also came on Kentucky
Lake.
A new state Class B record was also set for the spotted gar in April. The
spotted gar was taken by archery and came at Reelfoot Lake.
The criteria to be considered for a state record fish along with the new
record application and instructions, state records and fishing license
information are in the 2013 TWRA Tennessee Fishing Guide. Information is
also available on the TWRA website at www.tnwildlife.org by clicking on
“Fishing” located on the left side of the home page.
