This past Saturday April 11th Crappie USA held a qualifying event at Paris Landing on Kentucky Lake. Over 200 anglers from 14 different states were competing for not only cash and prizes, but a chance to advance to the prestigious Cabela’s Crappie USA Classic to be held at Columbus, Mississippi in the fall of 2009. To date this was our largest qualifying event held out of the Paris Landing area.

Semi-Pro Division Results

Taking first place was the Wingo, Kentucky team of David and Larry Sisson with a very impressive weight of 13.17 pounds. David and Larry were fishing the main creek banks of Blood River in 14-20 feet of water. The team caught their limit spider rigging black/chartreuse umbrella Southern Pro baits tipped with large shiner minnows. David and Larry earned $2,000.00 for first place in the Kentucky/Barkley Lakes Crappie USA event.

Second place went to the Bowling Green, Kentucky team of Mike Tinley and Tim Gill with a close weight of 13.09 pounds and earning $1,000.00. Most of their fish were holding very tight to the breaks and cover.
