KENTUCKY LAKE BASS TOURNAMENTS RESUME FOR ANGLERS
From the local bass tournament scene comes word of a hefty stringer
taken in the Friday morning tournament by Ray Norwood. He boated 19.16
pounds to take the top spot followed by Brian Horton and Garrett Sinclair
who teamed to catch 16.37 pounds.
Big fish of the morning was a 5.10 pound largemouth taken by Mac Brown and
Mike Foster.
The Wednesday afternoon tournament indicated the bass bite fell off some
as top stringer was 9.12 pounds taken by Bob Hehn and Butch Camper. Big
bass of the afternoon was 4.16 taken by Ronnie Watts and John Bruzewski

Local buddy bass tournaments held on weekdays every other week are
showing Paris area anglers are landing some hefty fish on their own.
According to spokesman Kevin Ray last week’s Friday morning event saw Troy
Howell and Katie Arnzero land a 22.08 pound stringer to take the top spot.
They had the big fish too courtesy of a 6.85 pound largemouth.
Second place went to Lila and Donnie Williams with 17.93 pounds. Both
stringers were quite impressive for just a half day of fishing.
The midweek Wednesday afternoon tournament was won by Adam Craig and Jason
Chadwick with a hefty 23.22 pound stringer topped by a 5.79 pound
largemouth. Second place went to Ray Norwood who fished alone and caught
22.05 pounds of bass.
Makes it sound like these 4-pound plus average stringers are abundant but
anytime someone catches bass like that he or she deserves recognition and
respect!

Triton Boat Owners bass tournament held on Kentucky
Lake out of Paris Landing had almost 300 boats entered.
Even though he didn’t catch the most fish during the event, Michael
Bagwell of Dover was perhaps the biggest winner of all. In the random draw
he heard his name called out as winner of a new Triton 21XS boat, with a
250 Mercury outboard, complete with Motor Guide trolling motor and
Lowrance electronics valued at a whopping $60,000!
Fishing their first Triton Owners Tourney, Chuck Murray of Louisburg, NC
and Ben Parker of Paris weighed 10 bass totaling 51.64 pounds and also now
hold the two day total weight record in the 11 year history of the event.
The previous record was 49 pounds.
The duo stated they caught their fish on a variety of baits but jigs and
crank baits were the main weapons. Murray stated the team boated over 150
fish each day and it could have been more. “I have never seen in my
fishing career, bass school like they do in this lake”.
They caught fish on every cast for two solid hours each day. Parker and
Murray stated they found their main “Honey Hole” on Wednesday in practice.
Murray stated they were searching the lake, studying their electronics,
when Ben said, “There they are!!” The screen was full of fish! Parker
stated they turned the boat, made four casts and caught 4 good fish.
Donnie and Lila Williams of Paris had a great tournament too and wound up
in third place with a two-day total of 47.67 pounds. A tip of the hat to
the husband and wife team who did very well in a competitive field.
That Lila can hang in there with the best of ‘em!

pounds. Other local anglers making the payback were Kyle Norwood and Clint
Parish with 18.25 pounds, followed by Chris Davis and Luke Millraney with
17.60 pounds.
“It was a very successful event and we plan to do it again next spring,”
said Clay Riley. “All in all we raised about $10,000 for the soccer field
at Freed Hardeman University which is named in memory of Josh

The fruit

Friday morning’s event was won by Leon Rogers and Roger Buffington with
14.83 pounds. Hot on their trail was Larry Dunlap and Jeff Allen with
14.58 pounds.
Wednesday afternoon’s event saw local anglers Kevin Ray and Jonathan
Hampton enter the winner’s circle with a hefty stringer weighing 23.57
pounds. They had the event’s big fish too thanks to a 6.34 pound
